Finally open again! After being closed for a long time due to the corona measures, the Hamelmuseum will reopen its doors to visitors on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
The Hamel Museum now also has a somewhat broader set-up. Not only the story of the discovery of Korea by Hendrick Hamel from Gorcum is told. In addition, temporary exhibitions will focus on other subjects from Gorinchem’s rich history.
From polder to Waterline
The exhibition Van polder tot Waterlinie can now be seen there, which has already been shown in windmill De Hoop. The exhibition was not accessible at the time for those who cannot climb steep stairs. Now you can on the ground floor. The exhibition is also supplemented with attributes from the collection of the Historical Association Oud-Gorcum, including a special polder mill design, as described by the famous Dutch hydraulic engineer Jan Blanken. Check the website of the Hamelmuseum for opening times and prices.
See you in the Hendrik Hamel Museum!
